Part of the B-List Christmas series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
We all know the familiar Christmas characters: Shepherds, Wise Ones, Mary, and Joseph. But who are in the shadows? Who are the people on the edges of the Christmas story, and what do they have to tell us about the meaning of Christmas? Beginning with this sermon, we will let the lesser known stars shine and discover how Christ still comes to and through the "B-Listers."
Specifically in this sermon, we will let the 4 Old Testament women briefly named in the beginning of Jesus’ genealogy start us off. Each of these women had challenging, painful pasts, and I admit that the mini-sermon God has laid on my heart to preach here scares me and excites me.
Special thanks to Rev. Matt Miofsky for the Sermon Series idea and basic outline.

6 We have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
We all fade like a leaf,
and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
7 There is no one who calls upon your name,
who rouses himself to take hold of you;
for you have hidden your face from us,
and have made us melt in the hand of our iniquities.
8 But now, O Lord, you are our Father;
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we are all the work of your hand.
9 Be not so terribly angry, O Lord,
and remember not iniquity forever.
Behold, please look, we are all your people. (ESV)
