Café Capitol Hill and Our Daily Bread

Café Capitol Hill is a fellowship meal served every Sunday with and for our neighbors on the Hill. This warm hospitality is more than just serving a meal - we offer a safe place to those living on the margins of our community and a place where they can feel at home. The Café can always use your helping hand; volunteer to help prepare the meal, serve or share a meal. Just go to the kitchen following service each Sunday. Café will serve a special meal on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day too.

 

Each weekday morning at 7:30 am folks start their day at the church with Our Daily Bread (also known as Weekday Breakfast). Both our housed and unhoused neighbors participate in this simple meal. In the relaxed atmosphere of the parlor we drink coffee, eat some good, healthy food, get to know each other a bit better, and ponder God. The breakfast offers a bit of dignity, order, relief from the weather, food, coffee, and, most of all, friendship - for all who attend.

Support Café as You Travel
Miniature toiletries are welcome gifts for the guests of Café Capitol Hill. You can leave the items in the wicker basket in the hallway outside the church office.

 

Donate Food and Funding for Café and Our Daily Bread
Our Daily Bread and Café Capitol Hill can use your gifts now and throughout the year. Leave your donations in the breakfast box in the Narthex. Cash donations are always appreciated. To make a cash donation, just mark your gift "Our Daily Bread" or “Café Capitol Hill” and put it in the offering plate on Sunday. Suggested food donations include:

-Eggs and meats (breakfast meats, ground beef, hot dogs, or canned meats such as corn beef hash or beef stew).

-Cereal. (Honey Nut Cheerios are a favorite as they are presweetened and easy to chew for the several folks without a full set of teeth.)

-Milk, coffee, creamer, and sugar.

-Any leftovers from events you may have.
